To be perfectly honest, I had been going to the Sunday open market in the South End of Boston (also known as SoWa Sundays) for over a year now. Have I ever bought anything at the market, however? Hahaha…well, nothing not edible…

You see, the only reason I go to the SoWa Open Market is to the visit the FOOD TRUCKS! Whatta surprise…hahaha! This gloriously sunny Sunday, I definitely wanted to hit the trucks that I’ve never been to before. Here’s a tip…go with a friend (or friends) you feel comfortable sharing food with. My foodie friend, Carol, came with me & you get more food mileage by splitting meals & being able to taste from the different trucks :)
The day’s offerings included:
- An all-beef hotdog smothered in chili (a bit on the sweet side which I LIKED), onions & mustard with a side of fried pickle spears via Boston Super Dog!
- Pulled pork & shredded chicken tacos (covered with chicken “chips” i.e. super fried chicken skin) by way of BBQSmith…yummmmmy!
- Washed that all down with a Thai iced tea from Bon Me.
- The final truck we hit, I had been anticipating for a long time…Frozen Hoagies!!! When I heard about this truck that served made-to-order ice cream sandwiches, I couldn’t wait to try them & today, I finally sampled all that ice cold deliciousness. I had the cherry chocolate chip ice cream (THAT I’d order by itself by the gallon-full) with a Heath bar cookie on top & chocolate chip cookie on bottom. I have to say that the cookies are perfectly baked to hold ice cream…not too chewy to fall apart in crumbs & not to crisp to also fall apart when you bite in. The truck is genius!**
**As of writing this blog post, I had already been to Frozen Hoagies 2 more times this week…tee hee hee! Addicted much?
Until the next SoWa food truck run!
