I find it quite odd that I would crave barbecue just days before my trip down South where I can get REAL down home Southern cooking. Oh wait…I know why. My Groupon was about to expire…tee hee!
Soulfire is a great BBQ place at the intersection of Harvard & Commonwealth Streets in Allston. It certainly fills the need for ribs, pulled pork, fried catfish & fried chicken & satisfies when I don’t want to trek over to Redbones in Davis Square. I don’t find any one item particularly outstanding, but the whole platter presentation really is a treat for the eyes (and stomach). I typically get the 2-meat platter (this time, fried chicken & catfish…but I usually do have some type of pork product) which also includes your choice of 2 sides & also cornbread & pickles (and wet nap) included! Even though I don’t find the mac & cheese all that incredible, the fact they sprinkle it with barbecue potato chip crumbs brings it to the next level ^_^ As I mentioned, I’ll be heading for a trip down South soon, so many more BBQ posts will be coming soon. Believe that!
