Smoked Ribs at the Historic Parks Mill in Abingdon, Virginia

Our next jaunt through Virginia brought us to a kind of remote & tucked away part of Abingdon…fairly remote with winding uphill streets, gravel roads & everything…but it was well worth it ^_^

Even though it took a while & maybe even a lost turn here or there due to no GPS signal, we finally found the beautiful & picturesque Parks Mill!  Though we were hungry, MDH & I took our time just exploring the amazing area.  Everything from a working mill that still ground its own grits to a working water wheel & a waterfall to enjoy a lovely picnic lunch next to!

Tender sweet ribs, yummy potato salad, already cut for me/easy to eat watermelon chunks & Mello Yello on tap was on the menu for today.  I loved every part of my meal, but for sure the star of Park Mills is the expansive area in which to explore & the various outdoor picnic tables to dine on.  Definitely a winner in terms of “off the beaten path” :)
